With the next winter Olympics just over the horizon, many competitors will be spending the final few weeks fine tuning their skills and fitness, hoping it will be enough to secure them at least a podium spot when the games take place in Vancouver during February. Over the years the training methods have changed but facilities and technology have also improved too.
A lot of people don't realize that they should consider their outdoor activities when choosing a dog, but it should be one of the first things they think about. There a lots of people who enjoy winter sports and getting out in the crisp air and the feel of the freshly fallen snow. There are also dogs who love the exact same things. I'm going to take you through some of the best breeds to consider when looking for a dog to share a winter wonderland with.
With all European alpine resorts reporting record snow levels this season, it is a far cry from last year when many resorts, particularly the lower lying ones, were in dire straits with next to no snow. It goes to show that whilst the experts tell us that global warming is a fact, there are still seasonal and yearly fluctuations that make it far from easy to predict what next week will be like, let alone next year.
Winter hiking can be a tranquil even surreal experience when done properly. The peace of walking through cold and wintry scenes captured in the outdoors is considered by many to be a great way to spend a day. Additional precautions are needed when hiking in the winter, however, as winter weather can create a number of issues not typically a problem in the summer.
